How to enter your book to find your gifts

When a user gives you a gift for a book, the user is supposed to enter:

• title (omit subtitle) + by + author’s last name
• the amount of the gift

For example:

• The Attention Merchants by Wu
• $5

Each gift - $5 in this example - is associated in AE’s database with the exact character string (case insensitive) entered by the giver.

Of course, givers may misspell or not follow directions.

So, in addition to the correct format:

• Title (omit subtitle) + by + your last name, e.g., The Attention Merchants by Wu

You might try these two variations:

• Title (omit subtitle), e.g., The Attention Merchants
• Title: subtitle, e.g., The Attention Merchants: The Epic Scramble to Get Inside Our Heads
